01The arrow
The arrow points the wrong way
Hold the phone flat, screen up, with the top edge pointing ahead of you. If the app asks for calibration, move the phone in a figure 8 a few times. Magnetic cases, car mounts, laptops and metal railings can throw the compass off, so step away from them.
There's no arrow, just "Enable location"
The arrow needs your location to work out the direction. Tap "Enable location", or turn it on in Settings › Go For Launch › Location › While Using the App (iPhone) or Settings › Apps › Go For Launch › Permissions › Location (Android).
How accurate is "Visibility from here"?
It's a geometry estimate based on your distance from the pad, not a promise. Weather, haze, terrain, buildings and the rocket's trajectory all matter. Night and twilight launches are much easier to spot.
02Times and reminders
A launch time changed
Launch times slip all the time: weather, technical holds, range conflicts. The app refreshes the schedule every few minutes while it's open, and when it does, your reminders move to the new time. Opening the app now and then keeps them current.
I'm not getting reminders
Check Settings › Go For Launch › Notifications (iPhone) or Settings › Apps › Go For Launch › Notifications (Android). Reminders go off 24 hours and 1 hour before T-0. If a launch only has a target date and no exact time yet, the 1-hour reminder is set once the time is announced.
03Widgets
Adding a widget (iPhone)
Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit › Add Widget and search for Go For Launch. There's a next-launch countdown (small and medium) and a five-launch manifest (large). They also work on the Lock Screen.
Showing only launches I follow
Touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget and pick "Launches I'm following". Widgets match the app's theme and language. Open the app once after changing either.
04Everything else
Changing the language
The app follows your phone's language (English, Português or Español). To change only this app: Settings › Go For Launch › Language on iPhone, or Settings › System › Languages › App languages on Android 13 and later.
Where does the data come from?
From Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs, a community-maintained database of launches. If something's wrong in the data, they're the best place to report it, but tell us too.
Does it cost anything?
No. It's free, with no ads, no subscriptions and no account. See the privacy policy.
